Former Ragin' Cajun beast on the defensive line Christian Ringo is on his way to the Green Bay Packers, who selected him 210th overall in the NFL Draft.

Ringo tore up opposing offensive linemen for 20 tackles for loss and 11.5 sacks last year, while dealing with double-teams most of the time. It's not often that an interior rusher racks up that many sacks, and his tenacity and drive caught the attention of NFL teams throughout the season. All but one NFL team sent scouts to the Cajuns' Pro Day, and the Packers must have liked what they saw.

Green Bay used the 34th pick of the 6th Round to pick up one of Acadiana's favorite football players. He probably won't be allowed to keep his single digit number (9), so we'll see how he adapts in the pros. With NT BJ Raji questionable to start the season and no huge names anchoring the two end spots of the Packers' 3-4 scheme, Ringo could have a chance to prove himself early on in camp.

The mission isn't over for the single season and career sack record holder for the Cajuns. If he performs like he did on Cajun Field and in the Superdome in his New Orleans Bowl appearances, he could prove to be one of the "hidden gems" of the late rounds.

Cajun fans wouldn't exactly call him a diamond in the rough. They've seen him shine for a while now. One thing is for sure, if he gets a scoop and score: he has the hops to make the Lambeau Leap.

For now, congratulate Ringo and his family for achieving a life long dream. Welcome to the NFL, Christian.
