The difference between recent meetings and statements from the Lafayette Parish School Board and a TV soap opera have been quite similar lately. The unsettling part is the School Board is real, the soap operas are not. The current drama being outwardly broadcast and reported on during school  board meetings has one group of citizens very concerned. They would like to know your opinion of how the Lafayette Parish School Board is conducting its business.

The group, Lafayette Parish Public Education Stakeholder Council (LaPESC), is asking for citizen input on the board's performance. The online survey asks questions that reference whether or not board members know what their job is supposed to be. Another question wants to know how clear the subject and resolution of that subject was to the public. Still another question wants to know if the discussions were focused on policy that helps students.

Once completed the survey results will be shared with the board and posted in public forums for ongoing discussion. The group's leaders hope to use this information to make sure that the elected board is always conducting business for the betterment of education and our children than for personal vendettas and political gain.
