You could call it municipal growing pains and while they might be a pain for some,  in the long run proper zoning and land use restrictions could pay off in the future. That is what leaders in the City of Scott will be considering next month when a proposal to limit and restrict what can be built in the City of Scott.

The City of Scott has seen unprecedented growth over the past few years and now taking a page out of other communities books, like Carencro, Youngsville and Broussard, the city fathers hope to help their city grow in an orderly and aesthetically pleasing way.

These land use regulation would prevent some developments such as new mobile home parks and dirt pits from being constructed in the city. It would also allow for regulation of other businesses such as auto repair businesses and gas stations to insure those businesses would not affect property values.

The city planning commission has been discussing the proposed regulations for the past year and just recently passed on their recommendations to the full council for discussion and review.  The council is expected to consider the proposals and make a decision to adopt, change, or dismiss in meetings next month.
