Depending on what time you're glancing at this you may or may not need your jacket. A cold front that brought snowfall to the Rockies and Great Plains is now making its way through South Louisiana. While we won't see precipitation falling in the form of snow, there is a pretty good chance you will see some wet streets this morning.

The National Weather Service radar out of Lake Charles showed that about three o'clock this morning the leading edge of the rain associated with the cold front stretched from McComb Mississippi through Lafayette Louisiana and into the Gulf of Mexico.

As I am listening to the rain drops being blown against the studio window as I write, I can tell the wind has shifted. It won't be too much longer until the cooler air starts to filter into the area.  Forecasters are not suggesting that this system will bring freezing temperatures to the area but we will see temperatures very near the seasonal average.

The forecast for the next few days calls for skies to feature a mix of clouds and sun. Temperatures on Friday morning will be in the upper 40's. For Saturday morning you can expect the overnight low to be a few degrees cooler than that. You can bet with this influx of cooler weather that gumbo pots will be clanging about on patios and porches and in camps and tailgate sites over the weekend.

If you don't get the connection between gumbo and cooler weather you might not be from around here. If you do then you'll want to take our little quiz listed below to see just how much Louisiana you have in you.
