Coroner: Body Found In Ditch Was Missing Pregnant Woman

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Authorities have confirmed finding the body of a pregnant woman whose disappearance last week led to the kidnapping arrest of a Baton Rouge middle school's assistant principal.

East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner Beau Clark said Thursday that dental records established it was 40-year-old Lyntell Washington's body that was found Tuesday in a roadside ditch in Iberville Parish.

Clark said an autopsy showed Washington died from a gunshot wound to her head.

Police arrested 39-year-old Robert Marks on child kidnapping and child desertion charges last week after Washington's 3-year-old daughter was found alone near her mother's car last Thursday.

Marks is an assistant principal at the school where Washington worked as an instructional specialist.

A co-worker told investigators that Washington was seven months pregnant with Marks' child.
