Sad news to report as country singer Daron Norwood was found dead in his Hereford, Texas apartment on Wednesday afternoon. (Hereford is about 40 miles southwest of Amarillo.)

Police do not believe foul play was involved in his death. Although nothing official has been released, sources say his passing was due to a heart attack.

The Lubbock, Texas native recorded two album for Giant Records in the mid-1990s but never found much commercial success. His highest charting song was 1994's "Cowboys Don't Cry".

In 1995, Norwood actually quit his singing career due to his addiction to alcohol.

He would later serve as a motivational speaker. His program, called "Keep It Straight", was developed to warn children of the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse.
