The Crowley Chamber of Commerce will hold their 12th annual Gumbo Cook Off this Saturday, October 24. In light of current weather predictions, they have decided to move the Gumbo Cook-Off to the Rayne Frog Pavilion, right off I-10 in Rayne. Entertainment will be provided by Wayne Toups and Zydecajun, so it should be a great day for delicious gumbo and some toe tapping music.

Admission is $10 for all you can eat gumbo which will be served starting at 11:30, with live music beginning noon. Categories to be judged are homemade roux - seafood, and non seafood, jar roux - seafood and non seafood, People's Choice, and also a category for Best Decorated booth.

We have a lot of gumbo cook-offs around Acadiana, but this one holds a special place in my heart, because when I came back home after living in Nashville, this was the first event I went to. I love the good folks in Crowley, so try to make it out for the fun if you can.
