Crowley Police Chief K.P. Gibson says police have arrested a neighbor after several homes in a neighborhood were burglarized this week.

Officers were called out to the first burglary in the area of South Avenue G and Elm Street to investigate when another call about a second home being burglarized was called in.

Gibson says investigators discovered several pieces of evidence which quickly turned their attention to neighbor Aaron Simon.

Gibson says,

"The officers on scene discovered evidence which led them to focus on a neighbor. While investigating this neighbor as a potential suspect, property from the burglaries was located at the suspects residence.  The officers took the steps to identify potential leads. By doing so, officers were able to locate evidence from the crimes and eventually locate a majority of the property which was stolen at the neighbor's residence".

Police say they were also able to recover more stolen property that the suspect allegedly sold to another person.  The property was later returned to the rightful owner.

The 32-year-old Crowley man was booked into the Acadia Parish jail for two counts of residential burglary.

Gibson says Simon's criminal history dates back to the year 2000, with an array of arrests for burglary and narcotics charges.

Gibson adds,

"I appreciate the hard work and dedication of the men and women of our department. Good police work has led to removing another burglar from our streets".
