It's not secret that Bobby Jindal has been out of the state a lot here lately. Many of us have questioned whether his out of state travels were in the best interest of the state or simply the best interest of a politician running for President.

Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne appears to be of the opinion that not all of Mr. Jindal's travels were for state business. He has sent a letter to the Governor asking him to reimburse the taxpayers for those travels. The letter specifically request repayment for the cost of using State Police as security on these trips.  The chances of Mr. Jindal cutting a check for those charges are about the same as a violent snow storm descending on Louisiana this July afternoon.

If you ask the political pundits this has all the appearance of a political move on Mr. Dardenne's part. Robert Hogan, political science professor at LSU, explained his reasoning to the Louisiana Radio Network.

This is a way for the Dardenne campaign to say 'look I want to be someone who takes a strong stand on fiscal responsibility' and this is a good way to do that.

When you consider that Mr. Jindal's popularity has been at a low point and he has taken much criticism for his travels already this does appear to be just a bit of gamesmanship on the part of the Dardenne campaign. If you really want to impress us Jay, show us the check that you got Bobby to write.
