Many people look forward to late November every year. That's when the holiday season kicks into full swing and friends and families get together to share joyous good times. Well, that's what they tell us we should be doing according to all those great holiday specials on TV.

The truth is most of us can only take so much family for so long until we start to get irritated with each other. Then there are people like me who would rather the whole holiday season just go away.

I've written stories in the past about depression and how it affects me and many people like me. I know this time of year can be particularly tough for people with depression. There is a prevailing air of "be happy, it's the holidays", but that just isn't the case.

I have to admit I was inspired to write and share this note about depression after watching an incredibly told story done by one of our own, Tracy Wirtz. You know Tracy from her bright smile and sparkling personality on KATC's Good Morning Acadiana.

You probably spend some time with Tracy on the weekends here at 97.3 The Dawg too.  Her series, A Depressing Reality , is currently airing KATC's newscast. In case you missed it we've included a link.

I hope this shed's a little more light on what you or someone you love might be going through. All I know is that there is a light in the darkness. If you can find the strength  to want to find it there is a way out of the hole.  Whether it's through your spiritual family at your church or through medical help and counseling or a combination of all of the above.Don't suffer in the dark alone ask for help. Depression hurts, but it doesn't have to hurt forever.
