We’ve got some bum-out news for Dierks Bentley fans that were planning to catch the country superstar perform after the Washington Nationals baseball game in Washington, D.C. tomorrow (June 2). The singer had to cancel the gig due to an undisclosed illness in his family.

Bentley was to perform as part of a free, post-game concert series that takes place throughout the entire season. Concerts begin 15 minutes after the final out of each Nats game.

The good news is that his spot will be filled by fellow country act Big & Rich, who will perform after the Nats battle their division rival Atlanta Braves. Baseball and country music? Two of America’s favorite pastimes.

Bentley has not had to reschedule a show in a decade, so it’s a big deal that he had to cancel.

Taste of Country sends our thoughts and prayers out to Bentley and his ill family member during this difficult time. Below is the complete text posted on Bentley’s website detailing the cancellation. Bentley fans in the nation’s capital area can rest assured that he will be back sooner than later.

As you’ve heard by now, Dierks unfortunately won’t be able to be at the Nationals game in DC on Saturday due to an illness in his family. A big thank you to Big & Rich for stepping in to perform at the last minute. This it the 1st show we’ve had to reschedule in 10 years, and we hate having to do it. We will do everything we can to get back to DC soon. THANK YOU for your support and understanding while Dierks spends needed time with his family.
