Dash cam video being described by the South Carolina Department of Public Safety as “Disturbing” shows Officer Sean Groubert pulling over Levar Jones, 35 for a seat belt violation. Groubert tell the suspect to get his license, and as Jones does as instructed, the Officer opens fire on him. Jones was unarmed.

DPS Director Leroy Smith added that the case was “disturbing.”

Prosecutors charged Groubert with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature. The maximum penalty for the charges is 20 years in prison.

An Officer’s life is always in danger. When a suspect reaches inside of his vehicle, there’s no telling what is about to happen. Officer Groubert told Jones to get his license, which is exactly what he was doing. The whole situation in my opinion is tragic.
