Donor Earns Naming Rights to the Horse Farm

When it comes time to rename the Horse Farm on Johnston Street in Lafayette, we now know that someone has that right.

Lafayette Central Park Inc., the non-profit group which is helping turn the property into a world-class public park, has announced that they've received a major donation in exchange for naming rights to the new park.

Chairman of LCP, Lenny Lemoine, made the announcement on Tuesday night during a meeting of the Lafayette Public Trust Financing Authority. He said he could not say more because of a confidentiality agreement with the donor so we don't know who the donor is nor the amount of the donation.

In case you were wondering about the progress of plans, that seems to remain a bit foggy, however Lafayette Central Park Inc. did say that they continue to work on designs for the first phase of the park.

We do know that Phase 1 is expected to cost $15-$16 million and will include a farmers market pavilion, amphitheater, walking trails, pond, picnic shelters, splash pad, dog park and toddler play area.
