When we hear the name Drew Brees and the phrase "going long" we usually think of a pinpoint laser football pass for a Saints touchdown. In this case, #9 was going deep on the softball diamond.

Brees and his teammates took time off from their offseason workouts to spend some time with Saints fans. They used the opportunity to show the crowd that had gathered that while his profession might be football he would be welcome on just about any amateur league softball team in the state.

The event was held at Tulane University's Turchin Stadium and the benefactors of the home run derby and the softball game were  Son of a Saint and Team Gleason. In the game itself, it was the offense outplaying the defense, no shocker there, by a score of 22 to 21.
