The past couple of weeks the combination of Duck Dynasty and Congress has led to some embarrassment because of the story about the 'Kissing Congressman'. Now comes word out of Monroe that maybe a member of the Duck Dynasty family could be throwing a hat into the  ring for the soon to be vacant seat of Vance McAllister.

A report in the  Monroe News-Star newspaper says that Zach Dasher, a first cousin of Duck Commander Chief Executive Willie Robertson is considering a run for the 5th Congressional seat.  Dasher is currently employed as a pharmaceutical representative in the Calhoun area.

Dr. Joshua Stockley, political science professor at University of Louisiana at Monroe, suggested that if the rumors are true it won't automatically propel Dasher to the position of favorite.

"He's got to generate his own name recognition.  He's going to have to generate his own identity.  He's going to have to demonstrate his own worth as a credible candidate for Congress."

Stockley's remarks were reported by the Louisiana Radio Network. Stockley did say a Duck Dynasty endorsement would be significant but it would take much more than that to actually win the seat.
