Lafayette City-Parish President Joey Durel and mayor of Greenville, North Carolina, Allen Thomas, have agreed to a friendly wager over the New Orleans Bowl this weekend.

The winning team's mayor will be treated to a home-cooked meal from the losing team's mayor. The losing mayor will also give a tree native to his city to the winning mayor. If Mayor Thomas is smart, he'll be pulling for the Cajuns so he can get some of the best food on earth!

"Our two cities don't know a lot about each other, but the football game will give us an opportunity to share our culture and joie de vivre with another thriving community in the Southeast." Thomas added, "I thought this would be a fun way to add to the festivities and build some camaraderie between our communities."
