Early Voting Begins Saturday

For those who just want to get it over with or those who are truly excited to let their voice be heard your chance to cast your vote begins Saturday November 7th across the state. Early voting allows people who might not be available on the scheduled election day of November 21st a quick and easy way to vote. It is also supposed to help with voter turnout, but based on the last election of October 24th it didn't help much.

Secretary of State Tom Schedler is certainly hoping that the voter turnout for the runoff elections will be better than it was in October.

You're down now to two candidates and maybe all the clutter's out of the way, so to speak, and people can focus better on it.

Schedler, in his comments to the Louisiana Radio Network, also suggested that early voting might be the best option for many Louisiana residents because of the upcoming holidays.

It's the Saturday before Thanksgiving.  A lot of people may be traveling, a lot of people getting into shopping issues, football games, hunting, and the like.

The office of Governor, Lt. Governor, Attorney General, and 153 other offices around the state will be decided in this runoff election.

Early voting will run through November 14th and polling places will be open from 8:00 am until 6:30 pm each day. The exceptions being Sunday and Wednesday November 11th which is Veterans Day. Early voting takes place at your parish Registrar of Voters office.
