Governor John Bel Edwards is making sure that the people of Louisiana are getting their money's worth from this session of the legislature. Or should I say we are getting our money's worth from this session of the legislature. The Governor has called for yet another special session.

As you have probably guessed this session will deal with the state's budget crisis. I supposed when you're looking at a $600 million difference between money you have and money you need that would qualify as a crisis.

Among the topics the legislature will attempt to put to bed during the special session which will convene on June 2nd are funding for the TOPS program, public colleges, lower education in the form of K-12 grade schools, and health care.

The session is mandated to last until July 23rd or when the issues have been solved. Whichever comes first. My  money is on July 23rd. While many lawmakers will continue to be looking for cuts the Governor's legislative package from what we understand will propose several revenue raising opportunities.
