Elderly Couple In Their Late 80s Get Married After 17 Years Of Dating

An elderly couple from Maine showed that true love can happen at any age.

88-year-old Paul Walker and 87-year-old Ann Thayer were married at Lewiston rehabilitation center Tuesday in front of a small group of family and friends.

The couple met 17 years prior to their marriage at church. They decided with the encouragement of the staff at the nursing home to officially tie the knot.

Thayer visits Walker every day at the Marshwood Center, where he is rehabilitating.

Both were married earlier in life to other spouses.

Center administrator Sheri Nadell tells the Sun Journal newspaper it was the facility’s first wedding.

Thayer says that they have been talking about a honeymoon in Bermuda once Walker feels better.
