75-year-old Veronica Jackson, who suffered from dementia, was found dead in her car Monday in Evangeline Parish.

According to our news partners at KATC, Opelousas Police Chief Perry Gallow says Jackson left her home by herself last weekend. An autopsy is being conducted by the Evangeline Parish Coroner’s Office to determine the cause of death.

Chief Gallow says foul play is not suspected, as a witness account and surveillance video show Jackson was alone.
