UL Ragin' Cajuns running back Elijah McGuire had quite the showing yesterday at the East-West Shrine game as he was named the game's MVP.

Hoping to impress in front of NFL scouts, the Houma native scored the game's only touchdown to lead the West team to a 10-3 victory. The game was played in St. Petersburg, Florida in front of a crowd of 22,198.

The 5-foot-9, 205 pound running back broke off an 18-yard run off of right tackle, putting the West up for good in the fourth quarter.

"I thought this week was going to be fun," said McGuire. "It was fun, but at the same time it was a grind. You only get a week together. You're learning a whole new playbook, so you've got to really focus in at practice."

McGuire finished the game with 42 yards on seven carries.
