Ellen DeGeneres Donates Prize Money to St Jude

Louisiana native Ellen DeGeneres is being honored by the People's Choice Awards for Favorite Humanitarian this week, and she is proving that to be true already. The prize, which will be awarded during the live broadcast of the show on Wednesday, January 6th, comes with a $200,000 donation from Walgreens, which Ms De Generes is giving to St Jude Children's Research Hospital. Yay!

This is not the first time a large donation has been given to St Jude on behalf of the talk show host. You might remember the famous selfie taken at the Oscars which generated such a huge buzz on social media, that Samsung donated $3 million to two charities of DeGeneres’ choice — $1.5 million each to St. Jude and the Humane Society of the United States.

The People's Choice Awards will air live on CBS January 6 at 8:00 CST.
