Justin Fruge, 35 year old former teacher and coach at Elton High School, has pleaded guilty to charges of having inappropriate relations of a sexual nature with students.

This plea will most likely result in significant jail time for Fruge. It will also require him to register as a sex offender. He will also not be allowed to hold a teaching or coaching position again.

Jeff Davis Parish District Attorney Michael Cassidy says that Fruge' could be facing up to a decade behind bars. Cassidy told the Louisiana Radio Network that there are other restrictions that come along with with the guilty plea.

"He will automatically lose his teaching certificate and not be able to hold a position like that again.  He will have to register as a sex offender and notify people for 15 years."

According to court papers Fruge' was facing numerous charges of sexual misconduct but agreed to accept a plea deal to the lesser charge. According to Cassidy, the  family's of the  victims of were in agreement with the plea arrangement.

"The victims were very satisfied with that and they felt like he's being punished and has a consequence for his actions."

By agreeing to the plea arrangement victims would not have been forced to take the stand in court. Many of those involved in the case suggested that the plea deal would allow victims and the town to begin the healing process sooner.  Sentencing for Fruge' is expected to take place July 20.
