A Eunice man was killed Thursday morning in a single-vehicle accident on Highway 104.

Louisiana State Police reported 19-year-old Ryan Lee was traveling westbound near the Evangeline-Allen Parish line when he went off the road after failing to negotiate a curve. Lee's Ford Ranger struck several trees before it stopped moving.

Trooper First Class Bryan Lee reported the driver was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Troopers suspect Lee was traveling at a high rate of speed when the crash occurred.

Lee was pronounced dead at the scene by the Evangeline Parish Coroner's Office.

Louisiana State Troopers would like to remind motorists about the importance of seat belt use.  Wearing your seat belt is the single most important thing you can do to protect yourself in a crash. Statistics show that the chances of surviving a crash rise significantly when properly restrained.  Remember, all occupants of a motor vehicle must be restrained, regardless of seating position.
