Join the Lafayette Public Library Foundation Thursday, November 1 for the 2nd Annual Spell-a-bration Challenge for adults! The spelling bee will take place at the Lafayette Science Museum downtown. Special guest and local Louisiana Senator and Cajun personality, Fred Mills, will serve as this year's MC.

The spelling bee is a worthwhile cause, benefiting the Lafayette Public Library in helping fund an entrance to the children's wing in the new downtown location. The library is seeking local businesses to sponsor and enter as a team of four. Teams will spell simple words like "gumbo" or more complex words like "Atchafalaya," so whip out that Webster's Dictionary and practice!

The spelling bee begins at 7 p.m. sharp, but guests are invited for food and drinks from local restaurants and a special showing of the museum's bicentennial exhibit at 6 p.m.
