Les Cadiens du Teche, New Iberia's Chapter of the Cajun French Music Association is having its music festival Saturday, September 22. The fundraiser will feature eight hours of toe-tapping Cajun music, delicious foods and treats, raffles, an appearance by visiting queens, and a cake walk!

Registration will open at 8 a.m. and a prayer and Pledge of Allegiance in French will kick-start the festivities at 8:30 a.m. Food booths will open at 9 a.m.

Jr. Hebert and the Maurice Playboys will jam out from 9 to 12:30 p.m. At 12:30 the CFMA will call its chapters' roll, draw door prizes and resume the cake walk. Chicken and sausage gumbo, boudin, pork stew, hamburgers and chips, and much more will be available to munch on.

Jackie Caillier, Ivy Dugas and the Cajun Cousins will rock the party from 1 to 4:30 p.m.  All proceeds will be distributed back to the community. "We are trying to preserve our music, culture, and heritage," Walker said. "We give money to broadcasts on radio station for our music and to scholarships and the French immersion program in Iberia Parish."
