This Friday, October 19 through Sunday, October 21 is the 2012 Fall Classic State Competition at Pelican Park and Robicheaux Center. The Competition will include softball, horseshoes, and aquatic events for nearly 400 Special Olympic Louisiana athletes who qualified during local and area competitions.

Community members, friends and family, and the media are encouraged to attend. Friday night's Opening Ceremonies will include: arrival of the Olympic torch, Parade of Athletes, and the lighting of the "Flame of Hope." NFL Quarterback, Jake Delhomme will be there as the Honorary Coach. Lafayette Parish Sheriff, Mike Neustrom will be there as Honorary Chair for the Opening Ceremonies and will throw the first pitch.

There will be great entertainment, food and drinks throughout the weekend. Saturday will be the Healthy Athletes discipline: Opening Eyes, Special Smiles, Health Promotion, Healthy Hearing and Fit Feet. All medical and dental professionals are invited to view. Softball and horseshoe will be held at Pelican Park, while the aquatic events will be held at the Robicheaux Center.
