Additional Information

A Veteran's Day Dedication Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, November 11th beginning at Noon at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Lafayette.

Guest speaker for the ceremony will be Congressman Charles Boustany.

Please join in the naming and dedication ceremony of Acadiana's exclusive veteran's section, reserved for the interment of honorably discharged United States veterans and their spouses.

The section is modeled after Arlington National Cemetery allowing only for the use of government issued upright, white marble headstones in vertical rows.

Once completed, it will feature a staging pavilion for funeral ceremonies, cremation niches, and fly all five military branch flags.

The cemetery's Distinguished Veteran of the Year recipients will have trees planted in their honor down the center walkway, and be marked with bronze plaques.

Future plans include erecting a tower in which 'Taps' will be played over loud speakers at sunrise and sunset.

The program will last for approximately an hour and refreshments will be served.
