5K for VOA in Acadiana

Volunteers of America Acadiana Programs is hosting its 1st Annual 5k for VOA Run Like You Mean It, Walk Like You Care community awareness/fundraiser event May 19 at River Ranch Town Square in Lafayette, LA.

Late registration begins at 8 a.m.- warm ups begin at 8:45 a.m.- and the race begins at 9 a.m. sharp! To register or be a sponsor, please visit www.voagbr.org/5k. Registration is $20 for adults and youth (12-17), children 11 and under walk free with an adult. Late registration will be $25.

Bring friends and family and enjoy the walk with food,drinks, door prizes, and fun for the kids! Proceeds of the event will support the elderly, homeless, and mental health programs that Volunteers of America Acadiana currently provide in our community.

Krewe of Acadiana, Acadiana’s first business Mardi Gras krewe, will host a concert featuring Three Dog Night.

Three Dog Night is one of the most beloved groups in music history, recording more than 21 top billboard hits such as Joy to the World, Eli’s Coming, Never Been to Spain and Easy to be Hard.

Louisiana’s Largest Outdoor Expo is in Lafayette at the Cajundome and Convention Center! Here, you’ll be able to book hunting trips all over the world for big game and fowl. There will be shotguns, rifles, clothing and gear as well as dock lumping labs.

This year the Louisiana Outdoor Expo is bringing A&E Television’s “Duck Dynasty” star, ‘Duck Commander’ Jase Robertson at the Budweiser Duck Blind. Also, “Top Contender” contenders Blake Miguez and Pete Palma.

Nathan Gabriel's Directing Workshop

Nathan Gabriel will be teaching a course on directing at Cite Des Artes this summer from July 30 – August 19. He is a professional director and educator with a Directing MFA from Temple University. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he teaches directing and acting.

Storytellers of all levels and ages are welcome to join. The class will focus on theatre directing, but its lessons will be so universal that those interested in film will learn a lot as well. The course will meet twice a week for three weeks. Exact nights and times will be based around student schedules. The course will cost $100 per person.
