The first time I got stuck on the side of the road and actually had a cell phone to call for help, I remember thinking 'THANK GOD for technology!". I don't always feel like that today, especially when I am trying to talk to someone and they are glued to their phone/tablet/iPod.

From Today.com : Blair McMillan and his girlfriend, Morgan Patey, 27, live in Guelph, Ontario, with their two sons Trey, 5 and Denton, 2, and have decided for one year, the family would live like it was 1986, the year that Blair and Morgan were born. After watching his son choose an iPad over playing outdoors, Blair McMillan made a drastic decision for his family: no more technology developed after 1986. Let that sink in for a minute - no computers, tablets, cell phones, flat screen TVs. Kind of mind boggling how used to these things we have gotten to, isn't it. “The road trip we recently took to Minneapolis was the worst,” says McMillan. “It would have been a lot easier to hand them a DVD player when they were both screaming about sharing stickers in the back seat of the car.”

I have to admit, when my cell phone got wet last year and had to be revived in a bag of rice, I didn't even know my own children's phone numbers - because i had never actually dialed them!
