The Lafayette Fire Department is investigating a second fire that occurred this morning in Upper Lafayette.

Fire Department spokesperson Alton Trahan reported firefighters responded to a sprinkler alarm activation at Metro Bingo on the Northeast Evangeline Thruway.

Upon entering the building, firefighters discovered a sprinkler had extinguished a fire that originated under a desk where computers and other pieces of office equipment were located.

The building's interior sustained heavy smoke damage, but fire damage was contained to the area of origin.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Earlier this morning, Firefighters extinguished a residential fire on Alfred Drive in Upper Lafayette.
