Florida High School Students Using Prom Money to Help Teacher Battling Cancer

The prom committee at Pine Ridge High School in Deltona, Florida recently started raising money for decorations. (Deltona is just north of Orlando.)

But then they found out that a popular math teacher named Charlie Lundell was taking a sabbatical to get treatment for lung and liver cancer. This is the third time he's had to have chemo.

When junior class president Katie Buday and the prom committee heard about this, they decided they would do something to help out.

They started by renaming the committee "Team Charlie". And instead of raising money for the dance, they're raising thousands of dollars to help his family while he concentrates on getting better.

They also found out that another teacher is fighting a serious illness so now they're raising money for both of them.

Well done kids, well done.
