From our friends at theadvertiser.com: FoodNet, the Greater Acadiana Food Bank, is in urgent need of non-perishable food donations at its warehouse located at 217 Surrey St. in Lafayette.

FoodNet serves approximately 29,000 people in need throughout Lafayette Parish. All clients are pre-screened and referred to a FoodNet pantry through 232-HELP. FoodNet’s Executive Director, Lemel Jones said FoodNet experienced fewer donations from the months of June through October and the need has become crucial.

FoodNet’s clients include senior citizens, veterans, low-income households and persons with disabilities. The urgent need for donations is underscored by the fact that the next major food drive is not until Nov. 5. Jones said inventory is now near depletion.
