One of UL's all-time great women's basketball players, Anna Petrakova, will be heading to the London Olympics as part of the Russian women's basketball team.

Petrakova officially made the squad late last week when Russian national team head coach Boris Sokolovsky announced the 12 athletes that would be headed to London.

Petrakova lettered at UL from 2001-2005 and will become the first Cajuns women's basketball player to play in the Olympics.

Russia will play in Group B against Australia, France, Brazil, Canada and Great Britain. The squad's first game will be against Canada on Saturday, July 28. The top four teams from each group move on to the quarterfinal stage which starts on Tuesday, Aug. 7.
