Former Louisiana Ragin' Cajun starting quarterback Brooks Haack has officially transferred to Northwestern State, the Southland school announced Friday afternoon.

Haack, a graduate transfer, has one year of eligiblity remaining. On Decmeber 18th, he announced he was transferring from Louisiana.

In 2015, he finished the season with 123-201 passes for 1,407 yards and 5 touchdowns for the Cajuns.

Haack split time at quarterback with Jalen Nixon last season, before redshirt freshmen Jordan Davis started the final game. Nixon has since been moved to running back.

According to Northwestern State coach Jay Thomas, Haack considered working an internship with former Texas quarterback and current Houston offensive coordinator Major Applewhite, but wanted to play one more season of football.

Thomas released the following statement through a University press release about the addition of Haack.

"Brooks adds another guy to that position with playing experience, along with J.D. and Joel, and it should be an exciting spring practice. He was part of a Texas state championship team at Katy High School. Also, his dad was a college coach including at Alabama, and went back to coach high school ball for family reasons, so Brooks grew up in the game.

"He passed up an internship working with Major Applewhite (offensive coordinator at Houston) to come here and play this fall, so he's driven to compete, even though he's already graduated, and wants to see his career through. We're looking forward to seeing him compete. He played very well against us last season."

In a week 2 win over the Demons, Haack went 8 of 9 for 187 yards in a 44-17 Cajuns victory.
