Former Governor Edwin Edwards and Wife Trina Welcome Baby Boy

It's a boy!

Former Louisiana Governor Edwin Edwards and his wife Trina welcomed a baby boy in the wee hours of this morning. Eli Wallace Edwards was born at 12:52am. He weighed in at 6 pounds, 3 ounces and 19 inches long.

The couple reports via Facebook that he is healthy. Trina posted how excited she is to be a new parent:

Wow...what a day!! Too tired to sleep and I can't stop staring at our perfect little boy. I couldn't possibly be a prouder mommy!

 

Eli Wallace is named after Edwin's father.

This is the third child for the 34-year-old Trina Edwards and the fifth for the 85-year-old Edwin Edwards. However, it's the couple's first child together.

They have been married two years now.
