Bill Leger, who in the late 1980s and early 1990 anchored and reported for KATC TV-3, died last night in a car crash on LA 93 north of Scott.  He was 48.  According to KFDM-TV--the Beaumont station Leger worked at for the last 18 years--Leger's car flipped after he overcorrected in a curve.  An oncoming vehicle then hit Leger's car.

Leger, a Kinder native, graduated from LSU in 1986 with a degree in broadcast journalism.  His career began before he entered high school.  He got involved in radio at the age of 12, working at several Acadiana radio stations during his high school and college years.  He worked at KATC after college and until 1994, when he left to work in Beaumont.

Bill is survived by his wife, Patricia; his daughters, Tatum and Tori; and his parents, Stanley and Kathryn.  Ardoin's Funeral Homes in Kinder is in charge of arrangements.
