Former UL running back Elijah McGuire sustained a foot injury on the first day of 2018 training camp for the New York Jets.

The second year pro walked off the field gingerly on Friday and then wasn't at practice on Saturday.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the report yesterday is that the injury was a fracture in his foot. It will require surgery and force McGuire to miss an extended period.

McGuire was in line to play a significant role for the rebuilding Jets.

Last year, the sixth-round draft choice ran 88 times for 315 yards and one touchdown while catching 17 passes for 177 yards and a TD. He played in all 16 games and even made two starts.
