The Acadiana Wrecking Rams, Jennings Bulldogs, Loreauville Tigers, and Vermilion Catholic Screaming Eagles won their quarterfinal games in the LHSAA football playoffs on Friday night, and have advanced to the semifinals.

Those four Acadiana area schools are each just one win away from advancing to their respective state championship games, scheduled for December 12-14, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.

In Class 5A, top-seeded Acadiana advanced to the semifinals, after defeating 8th-seeded Barbe, 27-17, and will next host 5th-seeded Destrehan, who eliminated 4th-seeded Dutchtown, 23-7, in the semifinals.

In Class 3A, Jennings advanced, while Church Point and Kaplan were eliminated

The 5th-seeded Bulldogs defeated 4th-seeded Patterson, 27-14, and will next travel to take on top-seeded Livonia, who took out 9th-seeded Church Point, 27-26.

Meanwhile 11th-seeded Kaplan fell to 3rd-seeded Union Parish, 14-0.

5th-seeded Loreauville will be playing for a spot in the state title game next week, after defeating 4th-seeded Welsh, 70-28.

The Tigers will be host top-seeded Many, who eliminated 8th-seeded Oak Grove, 34-20.

In the Class A bracket, 4th-seeded Basile was eliminated by 5th-seeded Kentwood, 32-15.

Catholic High-New Iberia's state title hopes came to and end in the Division III bracket, after the 6th-seeded Panthers lost to 2nd-seeded Calvary Baptist, 34-33, in the semifinals of the bracket.

Finally, in Division IV, top-seeded Vermilion Catholic is moving on to the semifinals, while 5th-seeded St. Edmund was eliminated.

The Screaming Eagles defeated 8th-seeded St. Mary's, 56-19, and will host 4th-seeded Cedar Creek, who defeated St. Edmund, 28-7, in the semifinals.
