Vermilionville will host a free Native American Culture Day on Saturday, September 26. Representatives from many of Louisiana's Native American tribes will be on hand for activities from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm, and the theme this year will focus on fraternal folklore.

In addition to the beautiful tribal dancing and drumming, there will be craft demonstrations, food, music, children's activities and a cultural exchange. Families can also enjoy the traditional bead work demonstrations, weaving, basket making, pottery, tomahawk throwing, and native food preparation. This will truly show the roots of our Native American culture here in Acadiana, and will be a fun event for the entire family!

If you come out for this event at historic Vermilionville, make plans for canoeing and Bayou Vermilion boat tours and film showings, and the “Louisiana’s Indigenous Peoples.” exhibit.

Native American Culture Day is sponsored in conjunction with the Paul and Lulu Hilliard University Art Museum, and there is free admission to BOTH museums on Saturday, with the help of Smithsonian Magazine.
