Blaine Roy and his band Second Wind set the tone early. And then Sammy Kershaw, Aaron Tippin and Joe Diffie knocked it out of the park! Hit after hit after hit! Mix in some great stories about their biggest songs and some darn funny jokes and you got the smash concert of the year.

The city is great, the countryside is even better.

It was a short trip but I was able to take a stroll down lower Broadway and popped in to several of the live music joints. I also made a stop at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum and caught a performance of the Grand Ole Opry at the Opry House.

I took a few pics on my iPhone and wanted to share with you. Again, these are phone pictures so the quality on some (especially with the bright lights of the Opry) is not exactly professional quality, but still pretty cool nonetheless.

Carrie Underwood was first, Blake Shelton and Lionel Richie were last and very few dips were found in between. It was three straight hours of back-to-back performances that barely left time for a bathroom break on Sunday night. The 2012 ACM Awards felt more like an all-star jam than an awards ceremony, not that anyone is complaining.

Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw might have been the highest profile pairing of the night, singing Chesney’s next single ‘Feel Like a Rock Star.’ However, Richie and Shelton and Brad Paisley with the Zac Brown Band were two other collaborations that fans will be tingling from on Monday morning. Which one of these four country starts are more attractive?

I understand the value of a black and white photo. It represents something not only older, but the photo tells a story. Some of them are not just photographs, but portraits painted, drawn, or sketched by an artist.

But then, when you add color, it just adds character, that was once missing from the photo/portrait.

What’d you think of these?

Let me give you a little recap of what all I did.

First off we got down there Thursday evening and started taking over NOLA by marching a parade down Canal, Bourbon, and Decatur. Friday we had our Battle Of The Bands with San Diego State’s marching band and not to brag, but we whooped some butt. Saturday was an amazing day that I’m sure all of you are all too familiar with, so I’ll spare you the details.

The Ragin Cajun Football players have been doing more than just putting in time on the turf in the Mercedes- Benz Superdome. They have enjoyed places like the Audubon Zoo, the WWII Museum, and they are making history.

As a UL Student, I have the pleasure of being in classes with some of the athletes. Thanks to Christian Sager, a UL football player and friend who sent these photos over.

We had lots of wonderful friends come by and register for the tickets. Many of you also scooped up free Ragin’ Cajuns/Rouses t-shirts.

Here are several pics from yesterday. Don’t forget to join us at Rouses on Baronne on Saturday for the Ragin’ Cajuns Tailgate Party! We’ll start our broadcast at 10am. Throughout the afternoon you’ll be entertained with great music by Da Classics, The Pride of Louisiana Marching Band, Ragin’ Cajuns cheerleaders, Ragin’ Jazz and much more.
