The folks at GoDaddy.com released a brilliant Super Bowl ad yesterday mocking those Budweiser "cute puppy" commercials. However, animal lovers got all in a tiff over it, so the ad has been pulled.

The ad starts with a cute puppy named Buddy falling off a truck, then making the long, tough journey back home to the farm.

When the pup gets home, the owner is overjoyed to see him, because she sold him to a place called "Gabby's Goldens" through her GoDaddy.com website.

The ad was a masterful poke at Budweiser's cuteness overload spots involving puppies and their signature Clydesdales, but animal activists didn't quite see it that way.

In addition to calling it kind of cruel, they also felt the ad was encouraging breeding and puppy mills. There was even a petition on Change.org. It said that GoDaddy is encouraging private breeding and puppy mills, while shelter animals sit waiting to die!

What?!?

Although most sane people will think this is a bit extreme, GoDaddy went ahead and yanked this particular ad for Sunday's Super Bowl.

"You'll still see us in the Big Game this year, and we hope it makes you laugh," was GoDaddy's statement on their commercial this year.

On a related note, GoDaddy posted a video showing how Buddy has been adopted by the company and given the title of "Chief Companion Officer". He even has his own Twitter account, @GoDaddyBuddy.
