Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal's vehicle was involved in an accident yesterday afternoon south of downtown Baton Rouge.

According to a report from State Police, the incident was the  fault of another vehicle making an improper turn.

 

The information released by State Police stated the following:

The crash occurred at approximately 5pm on LA 30 (Nicholson Dr.) south of downtown Baton Rouge. Two State Police SUVs were northbound on LA 30 in the inside lane when a “box” rental truck made an illegal U-turn from the outside lane. The truck side swiped the first SUV which was carrying Governor Bobby Jindal and a Trooper. The second SUV operated by a Trooper took evasive action and struck a utility pole.

Governor Jindal was not injured in the accident however driver of the second vehicle that struck the utility pole was treated for minor injuries.

The driver of the truck was cited for making an improper turn and the incident is currently under investigation by a supervisor from Troop A of the State Police. This investigation is departmental policy regarding all crashes involving fleet vehicles.
