Although he passed away in in Nashville, Tenn., in 2001 at the age of 61. Grand Ole Opry star Johnny Russell is still remembered by country music fans all over the world, and especially in his home state of Mississippi.

Best remembered for his huge hit song ‘Act Naturally’ – recorded by Buck Owens AND the Beatles, Mr Russell will be honored Monday with a marker on the Mississippi Country Music Trail. For a country music star to have number one songs by The Greatest Rock Band in history and George Strait (‘Let’s Fall to Pieces Together’), is quite an accomplishment for anyone.
