The St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office along with the St.Landry Chamber of Commerce will hold a grand opening for the new Public Safety Complex Tuesday, April 28.

The event is open to the public so that they may see the new facility.

The new complex will be at 1592 E. Prudhomme St. in Opelousas.

The total cost of the facility is $2.1 million, and the Sheriff's Office says the new complex is high-tech and state of the art.

It took two years to complete the new safety complex, and Guidroz says it took eight years of fiscal budgeting to make the facility become a reality.

He says they made this complex a reality without asking for a "special tax" or a "temporary revenue allocation".

The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday.
