On Saturday night, police near Tulsa, Oklahoma got a call from four people who said someone shot at them while they were out hunting Bigfoot.

But after questioning, 21-year-old Omar Pineda admitted to getting spooked when he heard some "barking noise" in the woods and in fright accidentally shot his friend in the back!

To top it all off, Omar's father-in-law, Perry Don James, who's a convicted felon, freaked out and threw the gun in a nearby pond before calling for help.

Confused yet?

Luckily, the victim is expected to survive. However, Omar was indeed arrested for reckless conduct with a firearm and obstruction of justice. His father-in-law was booked for illegal possession of a firearm and destruction of evidence.

Omar's wife is being arrested for obstruction, because apparently she was the one who originally claimed that someone ELSE was shooting at them.

The kicker is that police say that no one would have been arrested had they all just told the truth from the get-go!

According to police, the four may have actually been hunting "varmits", not sasquatch.
