Every time I seem to look anywhere on the internet, there is someone trying to raise money for some cause they deem urgent and worthwhile. I've yet to figure out why it's my responsibility to fund their pipe-dreams, but hey, it is America, Jack!

There is a guy named Zack Danger Brown who recently hopped on the fundraising site Kickstarter for his big, ambitious project he wanted to fund in which he apparently was lacking personal funds for -- the dude wanted to "just make potato salad".

He hadn't decided what kind yet. The goal for his excursion into home-making? A whopping $10.

He raised that $10 real quick. And then he raised another $1,443! Oh, and he's still got 27 days left in his campaign.

The secret to Zach's success may have been the incentives he offered for donations:

Pledge $1 or more - You will get a ‘thank you’ posted to our website and I will say your name out loud while making the potato salad.

Pledge $20 or more - Receive a potato-salad themed haiku written by me, your name carved into a potato that will be used in the potato salad, a signed jar of mayonnaise, the potato salad recipe, hang out in the kitchen with me while I make the potato salad, choose a potato-salad-appropriate ingredient to add to the potato salad, receive a bite of the potato salad, a photo of me making the potato salad, a ‘thank you’ posted to our website and I will say your name out loud while making the potato salad.

***Update: Since the pledges keep rolling in, he's upped the ante and is now offering much cooler incentives. See what your money will get you here.
