Sad, sad, news to report. Hawaiian Tropic has announced that their famous bikini pageants are going the way of newspapers and dial-up internet.

Many would say this is brand suicide.

Danielle Duncan is the brand manager for Hawaiian Tropic. She says, "The [Miss Hawaiian Tropic] bikini contest wasn't resonating with our target female consumers."

70% of the Hawaiian Tropic users are female so the company decided to appease them by discontinuing the pageants.

Also, Hawaiian Tropic will be shifting their focus from tanning oil to sunscreen.

It was a good run Hawaiian Tropic. We will never really know you again.
