Tomorrow is Maracas in May, our annual gateway to Cinco De Mayo celebration in downtown Lafayette's Parc International. So I asked our resident gourmet guru, Jill McCoy for something sweet but not a total diet buster. After all we are getting into the time of year when bikinis and short shorts are unable to cover up the over indulgences of winter.

We are going to have Bob Marley's Original back up band, The Wailers, as our headliners. They come from Jamaica. What is Jamaica most known for? If you said people saying "dude" and eating sweet treats you'd be correct. These easy to make treats will have even the most Mitt Romney in  your bunch screaming awesome at the top of their lungs.

So here is Jilly's over the top take on a kid friendly favorite that the adults won't be able to keep their hands off. The good news is with these ingredients you can at least let you tell your friends this snack is healthy with a straight face.

Another beautiful thing about this recipe is you can make these treats ahead and if you can keep your hands off of them they keep very well. They are easy to make so this could even become a kid friendly "let's cook it together" experience for your family to enjoy.
