State Police say charges are pending against a man who lead them on a high-speed chase down I-10 in the early hours of Sunday morning. According to reports Troopers attempted to stop the motorist after the vehicle he was driving was observed to be operating with only one headlight.

When the Trooper engaged the suspect vehicle the driver of the car disobeyed the order to pull over and increased his speed. It was reported by Troopers involved that the speeds during the pursuit reached in excess of 100 mph.

The pursuit came to an end when the suspect vehicle attempted to pass another vehicle on the shoulder of the highway near the Rayne exit. The driver of the suspect vehicle lost control and the vehicle careened through a ditch and hit a dumpster. The vehicle also crashed into the side of a Popeyes restaurant.

Police say the unidentified driver was taken to a local hospital with moderate injuries. Upon his release, he will likely be charged with multiple crimes. No other people were injured in the pursuit although the Popeyes restaurant was closed for much of the day Sunday while gas service was restored to the building and cleanup crews repaired other damage to the property.
